Dr. Hoang Anh is a Senior Lecturer at Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) and a leading expert in energy systems, with 20 years of experience seamlessly bridging advanced scientific research with utility-scale industrial deployment. He is highly active in the fields of energy efficiency, maintenance engineering (including predictive maintenance), low-carbon technologies, and renewable energy applications within complex Commercial and Industrial (C&I) operational contexts. Dr. Hoang Anh holds a PhD in Automation, Signal, and Image Processing from the Université de Lorraine (France) and a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from HUST.
His research focuses on applying machine learning and reinforcement learning algorithms to smart grid control, alongside techno-economic optimization modeling using industry-standard tools like HOMER Pro. His hands-on engineering portfolio features the deployment of diverse energy efficiency solutions, including biomass-to-power/thermal systems, distributed renewable energy integration, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), biogas networks, and hybrid microgrids. To date, Dr. Hoang Anh holds three registered engineering patents granted in 2025/2026, specializing in advanced brushless motor designs and smart PLC-integrated biogas filtration systems.
Dr. Hoang Anh has directly shaped national climate and energy policy frameworks through close collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT), the Ministry of Construction (MOC), and the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MAME). He provides expert advisory services to corporate clients on decarbonization roadmaps, feasibility studies, and asset optimization. Furthermore, he possesses a comprehensive understanding of Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) systems, Direct Power Purchase Agreement (DPPA) mechanisms, and carbon pricing instruments in Viet Nam.
Optimization and Drive Systems for Advanced Electric Motors: Implementing intelligent optimization algorithms for accurate parameter estimation, position/speed control, and design of DC and brushless DC (BLDC) motors.
Biomass and Biogas Energy Technologies: Developing value-chain improvements, low-pressure filtration systems for low-heating-value gas upgrading, and automated PLC/PID control solutions for power generators.
Artificial Intelligence (AI/ML) Applications in Smart Energy: Utilizing Machine Learning and Reinforcement Learning for biogas power generation forecasting, optimal BESS charge/discharge scheduling, and industrial energy anomaly detection.
Measurement Systems and Predictive Maintenance Engineering: Developing measurement and condition-monitoring systems for critical assets (generators, transformers, HVAC), optimizing building energy efficiency, and supporting predictive maintenance.
